Hello and welcome to TAIMUN XIX!

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as your Reporter Head for Press Team this year. I am currently a senior at American School in Taichung.

First off, I want to express how excited I am to be a Press Team executive this year. TAIMUN is a great opportunity to communicate and connect with others in multiple ways and to make friends from diverse backgrounds. This collaborative event exposes us to people with various talents in layout design, article writing, and photo-taking skills in the same room. It is also a wonderful experience to build new relationships with others and strengthen old ones.

This year’s theme, United Against Racism, tackles many pressing issues currently in the world. We live in an era where mass media is a vital source of communication around the world, which relies on journalism to transmit information to different parts of the globe. Whether it’s online news, op-eds, or reviews, people gain valuable information and stay connected to world issues. In this year’s program book, we seek to create entertaining, informative, and insightful articles for participants in TAIMUN to gain a better understanding of current issues. Through hard work and dedication, we hope to bring you a reliable synopsis of the topics of each committee.

Finally, I want to thank my deputy editor in chief, my layout editor in chief, and each of the press team members for putting a great effort into making the TAIMUN booklets interesting and fun to read. We hope you have a great time in TAIMUN XIX!

Welcome to TAIMUN XIX!

My name is Angela Yang. I am currently a junior at the American School in Taichung, and I’m honored to introduce myself as your Deputy Reporter-in-Chief this year.

Over the past few months, the TAIMUN team has put a lot of effort into making the conference an enjoyable experience. I’m excited to serve as a part of the Press Team executives, which allows me to collaborate with different people in order to organize the event and ensure that it’s a success.

When the time had come to select the theme for the conference this year, the majority of people had a strong preference for what turned out to be our final decision on the issue— racism. It’s a vital issue that needs to be addressed, so we hope that the topic “United Against Racism” brings a sense of solidarity to the community. We hope that the program book presents to everyone insightful and captivating articles that address our theme to entertain and inform participants.

Lastly, I would like to thank my Reporter-in-Chief, Zoe Chang, and all members of the Press Team for their hard work and dedication in preparing the conference book. We hope that you enjoy this year’s conference and have a wonderful experience!

Sincerely,

Angela Yang

Of most certainty, all of the Press Team members will be putting our maximum effort and time into creating the TAIMUN Issues. Therefore I sincerely welcome you to enjoy yourselves in the TAIMUN Pre-Conference and the TAIMUN Conference Issue.
