SCC
Crisis Director
Sam (Sungjoon) Moon

My name is Sam Moon, and I am truly excited to be serving as your Committee Chair for this session. I am a 10th grade student attending Saint Johnsbury Academy Jeju. It’s my first time chairing the offline international conference, and that’s one of the reasons that we are thrilled to welcome you all here today.
Our main goal throughout this conference is to create an encouraging, inclusive, and collaborative environment. I am really looking forward to seeing the creative ideas and fresh perspectives each of you will bring to our discussions.
Whether this is your very first conference or your tenth, please know that this is a safe space to speak up, share your thoughts, and learn from one another. Debate is at its best when everyone feels supported and heard, so please don't hesitate to reach out to the dais if you ever need guidance or have any questions.
More than anything, I am genuinely excited to meet each and every one of you, watch you collaborate, and see the lasting connections you’ll make here.
Thank you all for your hard work and preparation. Let’s have a fantastic session together.
Head Chair
Gayeon Kang
Greetings! My name is Gayeon (Helena) Kang and I’m a sophomore attending Korea International School, Jeju Campus. It’s an honor to be able to serve as your President for the SCC!
To tell you a little bit about my MUN journey, this is my fourth year in MUN and my 23rd conference. I began MUN in the third semester of grade 6 at my school’s home conference and have loved it ever since. Initially when I had joined MUN, I thought it was a waste of time and took too much effort just to debate on a single topic for a few days. However, after I became more familiar with the circuit and began to explore different branches of committees that MUN conferences attended, I soon became more comfortable with navigating the committee rooms and found enjoyment in participating. I became especially interested in Crisis, partly because it was fictional and partly because I thought it was a really creative way to tackle debate and diplomacy. I mostly participate in crisis now and have chaired about seven conferences!

Outside of MUN, I like to watch Korean baseball (Samsung Lions is the best team, by the way), listen to music (I’m a fan of SEVENTEEN and Stray Kids), and write poetry. I also play the viola and am a member of our school’s STUCO and Ambassador team, as well as an officer of our school’s MUN club. Feel free to contact me at @helenx._o or gykang29@kis.ac if you have any questions!
Sincerely,
Gayeon (Helena) Kang

Greeting delegates! It’s my honor to serve you as the Deputy President of SCC. I'm currently a senior studying in Taipei Kuei Shan School. I started my MUN journey in ninth grade, and TAIMUN XXV will mark my 15th conference. I’ve always believed that Model UN is not only a path to express yourself, but an essential part of my life and social circle.
Although most of my friends don’t believe this, I'm actually an introverted person as I don’t like to talk much in front of “people I don’t know well”. But once we get familiar with each other, you’ll find how crazy I am. I AM NOT MEAN AT ALL!!! So please don't hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions!
Outside of MUN, I like golfing, shopping, and sleeping. An interesting thing about me is that I have a mixed American and British accent, which I’ve been suffering from. Due to my upbringing, I was once a pure British accent, but I found it somehow hard for people to fully understand my words, so I tried to make it sound more “American”. Unfortunately, I ended up with this mixed accent which I can't control.
By the way, I have no idea why I was assigned to this Avengers committee, as I barely have any knowledge of the Avengers. I'm going to be very honest that I can only name spiderman, Ironman, Thor, that’s it. I will try hard to finish the series as much as possible I mean, but still, if I made any mistakes with it, please feel free to correct me.
Last but not least, I can’t wait to see y’all in TAIMUN XXV!
