Catherine Chung

Hi Delegates!

My name is Catherine Chung and I am currently a senior in Hsinchu County American school. It is my utmost honor to serve as your chair in TAIMUN XIII. This conference will be my 15th conference as well as my fourth time chairing.

At the start of my MUN journey, I was a timid delegate who was afraid of rising up in debate to share my stance with the rest of the delegates. However, as I stood up to speak for the first time, I felt the exhilaration of expressing my opinions to the rest of the committee. The surge of excitement I felt motivated me to become more proactive during conferences. Since then, I could see the growth in both my confidence and delivery skills, making MUN a key cornerstone in my high school life.

I sincerely hope that delegates who attend this conference will see the pleasure in debating upon global issues, become more involved global citizens, and develop a passion for MUN that will drive them to change the world for the better.

Aside from MUN, I enjoy painting and binge-watching Netflix series. I am also searching for dessert shops with matcha (non-performatively) so feel free to give me recommendations for them. You can contact me via email at 261003@hcas.com.tw or on instagram @cc._.cccccc if you have any questions or concerns.

I hope to see you all in March!! :)

Deputy Chair

Casper Hsu

My name is Casper Hsu, a senior from Hsinchu County American School. I know for a lot of you, TAIMUN is your first conference, and some of you are probably nervous just thinking about it. So am I. TAIMUN is my second time chairing, and I’m just as nervous as you are, even though I have already gone to 9 conferences with 1 chairing experience.

I used to fear public speaking because I had broken English, but joining the MUN lab and other conferences forced me to talk more with my broken English. Even though talking with my cranky English was really embarrassing, I was able to conquer my fear of public speaking over many trials and errors in multiple conferences. TAIMUN isn’t the end of your lasting MUN journey; it’s a knock on the door about world issues that you probably had never heard of in your textbook, but are currently happening somewhere in the world.

Apart from doing MUN, I’m also a big fan of two things: tennis and Clash Royale. I’d love to chat and exchange ideas about tennis, like why I think it’s the hardest sport and why everyone should give it a try. And if anyone plays Clash Royale, we can do a Clash Royale voice-over (“HE HE HE HA”) and maybe even have a 1v1 match during break! Anyways, if you have any questions regarding the issues or any questions in general, you can contact me by email, 261007@hcas.com.tw, or Instagram, casper0930, and I will try and get back to you as soon as possible. Looking forward to seeing all your nervous faces at the conference. Hope you enjoy this year’s TAIMUN :)
