ECOSOC
President
Stephen Liew

Greetings delegates, I’m Stephen Liew, a current sophomore at the International Bilingual School of Hsinchu Science Park. It is my utmost honor to serve as your president for the Economic and Social Committee (ECOSOC) this year. Fun fact, this is my first time attending TAIMUN and I hope to make it the best one for you all!
My MUN journey began at the start of middle school, and I have since joined over 14 conferences and chaired three of them. In my first few conferences, I often hesitated to speak and usually sat out on debates. However, over time, after familiarizing myself with procedures, investing more time, effort into debate, and observing more experienced delegates, I’ve gradually grown to realize that MUN is an immensely rewarding experience. It is a place and community where you can make friends, improve public speaking and critical thinking, but more importantly, familiarize yourself with global affairs in the form of debate.
Apart from MUN, I enjoy playing badminton as well as binging Netflix shows like When I Fly Towards You and F1 Drive to Survive. If you have any questions on the topic or chair report, feel free to reach out to me through instagram (@stephliew306) or email (541021@ibsh.tw). I look forward to meeting you all in March!
Deputy President
Haru Shih
Hello! My name is Haru Shih, and I am a freshman at Kaohsiung American School. I am extremely honored to have the opportunity to serve as a student officer at TAIMUN. I joined MUN a year ago along with some of my friends. I still vividly remember my first conference, STMUN, when I felt completely lost in the fast-paced debate. However, I met many kind delegates who helped me with my resolutions, and I soon grew to love MUN and its debates. What draws me most to MUN is the sense of community. Through different conferences, I have made many new friends and met well-spoken delegates who helped me improve my own skills. I also enjoy learning about global issues through research and debate. As someone interested in pursuing a career in law in the future, I see MUN as an invaluable opportunity and deeply value the experience it provides. Through MUN, I have developed the ability to speak clearly and concisely, think critically under pressure, and respond quickly to crisis updates. Outside of MUN, I enjoy listening to true crime podcasts, reading, and painting (my favorite mediums are charcoal and oil). I also enjoy studying art history and visiting museums. Some of my favorite artists include John William Waterhouse, Artemisia Gentileschi, and Lawrence Alma-Tadema. Feel free to reach out to me via email at haruushih0320@gmail.com or on Instagram @muahahahaharu. I look forward to seeing everyone in March!
